Breast Cancer awareness month is marked throughout October every year.
The month-long occasion was founded to raise awareness and educate people about the disease, its symptoms and treatment.
Statistics show that breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women and even men worldwide.
This grim reality makes it all the more important for us to learn more about it and do something to combat the illness.
Doing its part is Bawabat Al Sharq Mall through its #RunTheFight campaign from 1st to 31st October.
For the whole month mall visitors can participate by walking or running on the treadmills positioned inside the mall.
Participants will be awarded with special participation certificates as token of gratitude.
The mall for its part will donate AED 100,000 to RAHMA or Cancer Patient Care Society.
It is the mall’s aim to educate the public by stressing the importance of early detection by identifying the initial signs and symptoms of the disease.
Furthermore, Bawabat Al Sharq Mall is hosting a free breast cancer screening every Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm to 9pm.
All lady visitors will also get free mammogram vouchers to be used at NMC hospitals for October.
Early breast cancer symptoms are swelling and redness in one or both breasts, increase or change in shape of the breast(s) and lumps or nodes felt on or inside of the breast.
