The Saturday brunch at Jones The Grocer, Holiday Inn Downtown was different and yes we were happy!
For those who always thought of Jones The Grocer as one of the casual dining crown jewels of Abu Dhabi, known for its eclectic mix of retail products, which range from gourmet coffee to exotic pastries, Jones The Grocer at Holiday Inn downtown has mixed things up even more with their Saturday brunch. We were invited to Jones The Grocer which was on a Saturday and oh boy, that’s one brunch which we kept talking about.
It was surprisingly busy at 12.30 pm with guests already rolling into the Saturday fun. We select a table in the main dining area across from the open kitchen where the chefs were putting together everyone’s delicious food. There was this beautiful saxophonist playing some tapping tunes which got us into some laughing and fun vibes.
The restaurant was spacious, trendy with several distinct seating areas ranging from club chairs placed around small wooden tables to counter-height tables and chairs to a more traditional dining room set up, which occupies the most space.
We started off with a mild spicy lentil soup and the server was kind enough to suggest mac and cheese along with sweet potato fries for our little ones. I will be honest, i was tempted to get my hands on a couple of fries and those were one of the best sweet potato fries we have tried in Abu Dhabi! Our tummies were welcomed with Jones Chicken Caesar, Yuzu-marinated roasted pumpkin salad and black quinoa and roasted sweet potato. We have never been too lovable towards greens, but what was served to us was so fresh and tempting, it totally changed my thought process on how healthy and tasty salads can actually be.
While we were having a good time sipping on some lovely sparkling grape, the server smiles at us and asks us if we are ready for the main event. We did nod yes but were confused mentally as we had already tucked in those amazing starters. Anyhow, thinking we did have the might to challenge our selves, we decided to move further. In no time we were served our mains which ranged from Truffle Mushroom Risotto, Beef Tenderloin, Salmon Ahoyl, Chargrilled Harissa Chicken and sweet potato fries and mac & cheese on the side. Though the meal was extremely tasty, personally its too much for two people.
We promised ourselves, not to have more and we skipped the cheeseboard which had a variety of cheese and headed straight for the desserts and we were delighted for taking that route to happiness.
All in all, when it comes to the hospitality, we must say the staff were every friendly and took good care of everything despite such a busy day. The food was mind blowing, fresh and welcoming. Personally i will recommend this experience to others. This Jones The Grocer in Holiday Inn Downtown is definitely going to be another visit for me and the family.
