Now There Are More Reasons To Shop In Abu Dhabi Grocery Stores

Always buy local...

Local Produce

The new government directive will give space to UAE home-grown produce in major local shops.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has issued a new directive stating that all major grocery stores in the capital must now set space aside for locally grown produce.

The launch of the initiative is an active effort by both Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed and ADAFSA to emphasise the importance of the UAE’s local produce in meeting the needs of the market.

All supemarkets, grocery stores and co-ops in the city will now be legally required to include a display of local agri-products within their stock.

The move will help UAE producers to have a place to market their produce instead of relying on outside sources.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, said: “We support anything that facilitates, motivates and provides security.”
