A Glimpse Into the Past and Future

Qasr Al Watan, in collaboration with the Sign Language and Deaf Community, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, and the Department of Culture and Tourism, organized an immersive workshop, focusing on ‘Emirati Sign Language.’

The workshop aimed to equip participants, including Qasr Al Watan’s staff and members from the collaborating organizations, with the essential Sign Language skills to communicate with hearing-impaired individuals, fostering an all-inclusive environment for all visitors.

Visitors marveled at the centuries-old Arabian architectural design adorning the Palace’s facade. They were welcomed by the imposing maple doors of Qasr Al Watan.

The journey exposed them to the UAE’s rich past, its vibrant present, and its promising future. he workshop commenced with an in-depth presentation on ‘Emirati Sign Language,’. It was followed by an introduction to deaf culture and the history of sign languages, which number over 300 worldwide.

Instructors then delved into International Sign Language, with an interactive session demonstrating how communication extends beyond words through signing. An open discussion allowed visitors to pose questions and seek clarification.

Concluding their enriching journey, visitors were guided by dedicated tour guides through the various zones at Qasr Al Watan. Here, they had the opportunity to explore a vast collection of rare manuscripts. They witnessed the harmonious blend of modernity and history within the walls of Qasr Al Watan.

The palace warmly welcomes visitors daily from 10:00 am to 17:45 pm.
