First unified basketball tournament unveiled by Special Olympics in UAE

3 x 3 basketball tournament

Special Olympics UAE has launched its first 3 x 3 basketball tournament in collaboration with Jam Sports Academy. This is part of its efforts to train and prepare athletes for the Special Olympics World Games, Berlin 2023.

The tournament started at Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination in Abu Dhabi. The final stop will be held on 25th September in Dubai. Approximately 100 male and female athletes along with 25 coaches will participate in the tournament. These coaches are from different clubs and centers for People of Determination with Intellectual and Development Disabilities from across the UAE.

The tournament is a great opportunity for athletes to train together and develop their skills. Its a delight to see the enthusiasm and motivation of athletes, coaches and support staff to return to the courts and participate in games with their peers.

Jam Sports Academy will continue to work with Special Olympics UAE on multiple programs to continue to develop Athletes. For the first time, Germany will host the Summer World Games Berlin 2023 from 17th to 24th June 2023. Thousands of People of Determination with Intellectual Disabilities will gather from around the world. They will participate in 26 unified sports and activities.

The World Winter Games in 2023 will see Athletes and sports partners from 108 countries and 3,000 volunteers from around the globe. This emphasis the value of acceptance and inclusion through sports.
