With roots that originated in ancient India, yoga has transcended both time and trends, and people from all over the world are embracing its many benefits.
According to studies, practising yoga can decrease the secretion of stress hormone or cortisol.
Doing yoga can also greatly relieve chronic pain and improve mental health brought by depression and anxiety.
“A daily dose of yoga is a wonderful way to enjoy a moment of peace,” said renowned yoga and nutrition instructor and book author, Julie Montagu.
“Additionally, following your yoga session with a short period of meditative practice can go a long way to enhancing these feelings, and allow you to truly reflect on the events of each day.
“Doing so will help you to process and release any negativity that has taken place, leaving you ready to face the next day with a fresh attitude and clear mind.”
That love for yoga is also evident here in the capital where studios promoting the practice have popped up left and right.
Studios like YogaOne in Mangrove One behind Al Seef, BodyTree Studio near Khalidiya Mall, Hot House in Al Zeina, The Room in Zayed Sports City and The Studio along Corniche Road are all go-to places for new and experienced yoga practitioners.
Incidentally, a community happening will take place on 12th January, from 9.30am to 4pm at Silkor Laser and Aesthetic Center branch in Shakhboot City, to promote health and wellness among women.
The Holistic Wellness Event will feature yoga and meditation sessions, as well as dance, art activities, Pilates and inspiring talks, among many others.
