Virtual Programme By Guggenheim Abu Dhabi For Public Access

Waiting for the Future’ is a virtual series being streamed by Guggenheim Abu Dhabi that talks about the creative practices of artists Mariko Mori, Y.Z. Kami, and Selma and Sofiane Ouissi.

The series at Guggenheim Abu Dhabi which runs till 24th November offers virtual events where the viewers can understand and see the myriad creative practises that international artists adopt. The three artist chosen, Mariko Mori, Y.Z. Kami, and Selma and Sofiane Ouissi are artists who explore themes of spirituality, oneness and transcendence in their works. So when you sign up for the session, you will get a glimpse of effective way these themes can be integrated into your works. In line with everything happening around us, this program has been curated to give audiences an opportunity to introspect and through art perhaps focus on the connections and relationships that matter.

“’Waiting for the Future’ is a unique programme that offers moments of reflection, connection and togetherness during a time of change and uncertainty.   We encourage audiences to contemplate the ways in which these artists express their ideas about the future through visual art, dance, and film,” said Maisa Al Qassimi, Senior Project Manager of Guggenheim Abu Dhabi. “These sessions are a valuable addition to our public programming offering, which aims to both introduce engaging and poetic art from the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi permanent collection to the public. Anyone with an interest in the arts will certainly enjoy and benefit from what are sure to be inspiring conversations and performances.”

There will be three session; one with each artist and the first one with artist Mariko Mori has already transpired on 13th October. The next one on 20th October will be with Y.Z. Kami who will feature pieces that will be on the multiple references he leaves littered in his work regarding sacred texts, religious architecture and Sufism. The final session with Selma and Sofiane Ouissi will be on 24th October where they will put up a visual performance that highlights the representation of humanity in art.

In short, all of the session aim to reflect largely on inner identity, community , society and they power of art in being able to bridge gap between thought and action and possibly even people and experiences. All ‘Waiting for the Future’ sessions are being streamed on the Abu Dhabi Culture YouTube channel.
