The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority has declared that distance learning will continue in Abu Dhabi.
Schools had opened early this month after extensive planning and comprehensive preventive measures in place, however distance learning continues for grade-6 and above. A lot of schools have opened in shifts to manage the groups more efficiently.
However, the authorities have now announced that students in Grade 6 ( year 7 ) and above will continue classes via remote learning. This is in line with emirate’s efforts to contain the spread of Covid-19. Students in the higher grades of 9 to 12 will be allowed to attend school should they have official examinations to sit for such as GCSE’s, A-levels and International Baccalaureate.
“The Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Committee resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic in the emirate of Abu Dhabi announced the continuation of distance learning for sixth graders / seventh year and above, after continuous follow-up of the preventive measures applied and in the interest of students health and safety,” the Abu Dhabi Media office said.
These are unchartered territories and the authorities are altering regulations and school reopening based on the situation. The supervision given them evidence to believe that students would be safer to undertake distance learning till they can return physically to the classes.
