Whether it’s on land, air and water, one thing is certain – Abu Dhabi LOVES speed.
This weekend will be no different as the capital gets set to host the Red Bull Air Race World Championship from 8th to 9th February.
For two days, the (hopefully) bright Corniche skies will light up courtesy of sprightly aircrafts hovering above the ground.
But before all the high-flying action, here are some things worth knowing about the upcoming spectacle…
- Abu Dhabi will be hosting the event for the 12th consecutive year.
- The planes can hit a top speed of up to 370km per hour!
- A total of 14 pilots will compete in the Master Class category.
- There will be 26 pilots from 17 different countries competing.
- 2018 winner and defending champion Martin Šonka is a former Czech fighter pilot.
- While fans and spectators can see the action from the ground up in the public viewing area on the Corniche, the Radisson Blu Hotel & Resort, Abu Dhabi Corniche and The St. Regis Abu Dhabi are offering special packages including a superior view of the race action.
