Covid-19 updates: UAE announces travel ban on unvaccinated citizens

The United Arab Emirates has announced a travel ban on unvaccinated citizens amidst the rising Covid-19 cases. The travel ban comes into effect from 10th January, 2022.

The National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said that fully vaccinated citizens will need to get Covid-19 booster dose.

In order to travel, vaccinated citizens are required to obtain the booster doze according to National Protocol for booster doses.

Travel is permitted for unvaccinated citizens for the following categories.

  • Individuals medically exempted from taking the vaccine.
  • Humanitarian cases
  • Individuals travelling for medical and treatment purposes

Those who are unable to take the vaccine because of medical reasons are exempted from the decision.
