Head bent with chin resting on one hand like a man in deep thought – The Thinker undoubtedly is one of the world famous sculptures.
And capital residents will now have the chance to see renowned figure at Louvre Abu Dhabi.
The sculpture – on loan for a year from the Rodin Museum in Paris – is one of the original castings made by French sculptor Auguste Rodin between 1881 and 1882.
Originally called The Poet, the sculpture was part of Auguste’s body of commissioned world inspired by The Gates of Hell from Dante Alighiere’s The Divine Comedy.
It is widely believed that the figure itself represents Dante while in the centre and surrounded by the poem’s main characters.
Currently, there are many large-scale castings of The Thinker around world famous locations including in Paris, USA, Belgium, Venice and Sweden.
If you are visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi, make sure to be part of the exhibition 10,000 years of Luxury.
