Festember 2018

Thinking of how to spend your weekend? Why not check out Festember happening until 9th of December at the Waterfront Park in Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Dubbed as a ‘lifestyle and entertainment event’, the spectacle features a wide range of entertainment, culture and food.

The annual event was launched in 2015 by young Emirati, Latifa Al Hamed, to showcase Abu Dhabi’s diverse and dynamic community.

To make it easy for you, we list down some of the event highlights worth experiencing this year:

Food

We love food so this needs to be ahead of the pack. But more than just merely eating, what makes this year’s Festember unique is its emphasis on culinary experience.

Straight from LA in the States, the Gastro Garage is dishing out its signature Gastro Tank or blow-torched gourmet donut sliders. The process includes blow-torching a savoury donut, injecting it with nitrous charged cheddar cheese foam then topping it with blow-torched ground Wagyu beef, tomato, onion and sauce toppings.

Don’t miss also Chick’nCones, the New York-based food brand famed for its crispy chicken tenders served in fresh waffle cone.

Meanwhile, making a return is the Barrel BBQ where diners can get their hands on Southern-style grilled meats smoked to perfection.

Retail

After eating, burn those new extra calories by taking a stroll at the pop up market to see and purchase crafts and items created and sold by local artisans. Expect to see a potpourri of unique wares, accessories and knickknacks so better get your wallets ready – you’ve been warned.

Arts

Being held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi’s vicinity, it only makes sense to have something artsy for people to see.

The headliner this year is the Illusinations Tunnel – a 30 metre long installation that plays abstract form, visual structures and interactive rainbow lighting.

We all can’t be The Incredible Hulk, but feel free just the same to unleash your inner fury by breaking things to chunks and pieces inside the Smash Room.

Finally, live entertainment will keep the energy thriving courtesy of international and local acts including Jay Abo, Aman Sheriff and Colombian singer Vera Ciocca.
