What Makes The Jebel Hafit Desert Park Our Favourite Camp Out

Jebel Hafit Desert Park
The Jebel Hafit Desert Park in Al Ain will be opening today 01st November to welcome visitors as it starts its new season.

The Jebel Hafit Desert Park is relatively new and had first opened doors in February 2020, but had to pause operations. The site was created primarily to protect and preserve the biodiversity, heritage and archaic importance of the landscape in the area. It’s significance gained international attention with it becoming one of UAE’s first designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

It has now reopened doors for people to enjoy a mix of history, culture and stunning natural landscapes. The park situated at the foot of the Jebel Hafit is a great snapshot into the heritage and earlier dwellers of the area. Starting from the Neolithic Age to the Iron Age, the parks exhibits how the prehistoric cultures have evolved over time in the desert. Expanding over nine kilometres, the park has a lush outdoor space to play, explore and simply wind down as you get ready for the work week.

“To visit Jebel Hafit Desert Park is to travel through thousands of years of Emirati history,” said H.E. Saood Al Hosani, Acting Undersecretary of DCT Abu Dhabi. “This landmark offers a fascinating insight into the UAE’s unique heritage and is complemented with a range of outdoor activities suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities, allowing for exploration of surrounding areas notable not only for their beauty but for their significant biodiversity. Guests can visit for the day or take a longer break and stay overnight at the Park’s onsite camping to fully experience its cultural facilities. There is something for everyone at this unique attraction, and I encourage families, history buffs and nature enthusiasts to visit our World Heritage Site and discover the beauty of Jebel Hafit Desert Park for themselves.”

What once can expect at the park? For starters, there are cycle tracks for bikers, horse and camel riding or you can simply take in the natural beauty as you’re taken around in a buggy. They also have designated picnic spots and camping spots where you can set-up or book one of their camping options. With the weather being this perfect, this outdoor experience could not have come at a better time.
